They actually use colored shingles to make roof lettering. It's a really cool thing to see. Back when there was a rise of private plane and helicopter use in civilians and businesses wanted to tailor to them.
The local gun shop here, the owner lost his gun permit or some drama like that, and they painted over the "Gun" in the store's name.
